About Dana

Dana Abatemarco has spent just shy of 14 years exclusively in the legal content world, and it shows. She’s written, edited, strategized, and managed teams for national campaigns – the kind of work that makes the difference between content that just takes up space online and content that actually drives results.

Before joining MeanPug, Dana spent a decade as the Director of Legal Writing & Content Management for another agency, running a team of writers and building strategies that helped law firms stand out in crowded markets. In her previous life, she taught English and literature at the college level, making her an expert in language: how it sounds, how it’s interpreted, and how it can be used to benefit her clients. 

At MeanPug, Dana brings more than writing skills to the table. With 24 years of professional experience spanning two ever-changing industries, she tackles new projects with confidence and flexibility. She’s a strategist, an editor, and a fixer; someone who can spot what’s not working and make it better. Whether it’s content that needs cleaning up or processes that need tightening, Dana’s focus is the same: quality over fluff, clarity over jargon, and results over empty promises.

When she’s not working, Dana is with her two cranky, codependent dogs (Coal and Ember) and with her husband, who is significantly less dependent and whom she loves almost as much. She’s into cooking, reading, and supporting causes close to her heart like her local food bank and Boys Town. She’s deeply political, though she won’t say which side here — only that it’s whichever one gets you to sign the contract.
